Staud Resort 2023

“At the resort, it spans two seasons, so we really used the collection as a bridge,” Sarah Staudinger said of her latest collection. “We definitely dress our girl, but it has a relaxed feel to it; she’ll go places and be ready for anything, from city sidewalks to the beach or vacation, and that was one of the most fun parts of designing this collection.”

The Staud designer said the collection was inspired by the shape of a swirl. The idea can be seen through the myriad of swirling patterns, but also the kitschy beaded party dresses, western accents (especially in footwear), and the slight “goddess energy” of wearing monochromatic dresses.

Quote: “It really starts with this compulsive reaction to the swirling shape. We were inspired by the organic movement of this ancient and timeless shape. For us, it exudes a relaxed energy and a natural elegance that fits where the collection wants to go. It’s evolving in a way that blends California daydreams with urban sophistication.”

Key pieces: moss green compact knit tank and pants with tile swirl pattern; monochromatic evening dress with sexy cutouts and sequin inserts; one-sleeve black Zuri corseted tunic with small asymmetrical swirly buttons; combination pinstripe poplin and merino wool top and dress; sturdy jeans with swirly over-the-shoulder (or with oversized poplin button skirt with cutout swirly eyelets below the shoulders ).

Accessories: small micro-beaded handbag; plexiglass heeled sandals; smooth cowhide western boots.

The Gist: While the collection is full of ideas, the signature, playful Staud attitude is combined with head-to-toe day-to-night wearability.
