These are the biggest trends for resorts in 2023
Because dressing for winter doesn’t have to be boring.
A somewhat confusing but consistent phenomenon in fashion is the arrival of pre-season collections, which debut and are released between the spring and fall debuts, thus anchoring the industry’s calendar. These have many different names and release schedules, and no “pre-season” better describes it than the resort – also known as “pre-spring” or “Cruise” or simply “Winter”, and land anywhere between October and December in stores and online.
The vacation collection covers everything from resort wear to party attire to simple pieces to styles that lower the temperature. Like the “major” spring/summer collections, they start spreading in the first week of May, months before the beginning of summer – like 2023 – and we’ll probably see more in the next few weeks. We’ll probably see more of them in the coming weeks. That said, this is an important opportunity for brands: to create some elaborate destination runways for these collections; others have abandoned the spring/fall rhythm altogether and opted to showcase them every two years in a pre-collection schedule.
While they may represent many different scenarios, time periods and dress types, resort collections often share the excitement and energy that the warmer months bring, as well as the kind of excitement and energy we desperately want when it’s cold. As a result, we’re able to draw some common threads that give us an idea of what we’ll be wearing in the near future. As for what you might find yourself loving this winter, discover the biggest trends from the 2023 Resort Collection in the gallery below.
