Fashion designers and royalty see blue as the color of summer 2022

LONDON – Now the world has blue – not just turquoise, lapis lazuli or azure, as Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep in “Wear Famous hue from Prada’s Demon.

It began with the four-day Platinum Jubilee celebration, as Queen Elizabeth II walked to the balcony of Buckingham Palace wearing a dove blue coat that slowly influenced the rest of the royal family, including her granddaughter Beatrice Princess, she wore a Day Two, blue belted Beulah London dress.

For this week’s Garter Day celebrations, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a neat Catherine Walker coat dress in the Queen’s favourite shade.

For landmark events, monarchs always turn to cool tones. In 1960, she wore a pale blue Norman Hartnell design including a ball skirt, bolero jacket with matching gloves and glamorous accessories, which was photographed by fashion and royal photographers at Princess Margaret’s wedding Captured by Cecil Beaton.

Blue isn’t just a color – it’s a political expression of one’s place in society. The controversial Duchess of Windsor, Wallis, married Edward VIII in 1937 in her own bespoke shade of blue, rather than opting for subtle pastel blushes.

French artist Yves Klein liked the color so much that he created his own version and began his “blue period” in 1957.

For Saul Nash, winner of the Woolmark Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Prize for British Design, there is a lack of blues. His new menswear collection features a cheerful take on the color through sweatpants, shorts, tank tops and polo tops.

Qasimi’s creative director Hoor Al Qasimi has captured the blue craze for her spring 2023 collection – the London-based brand has teamed up with photographer and director Fabien Montique to release a short film in a dark blue room, These works are displayed.

Britain’s grey weather has designers longing for clear, bright skies. Tiger of Sweden creative director Bryan Conway brings his spring 2023 collection to Mallorca, inspired by his youth chasing the sun in Spain with his three sisters. He wanted to focus on the elegance in indigo pieces, as well as the less tasteful pieces we’ve accumulated throughout our lives, like bright sky blue jeans.

If you’re going to sing the blues this month, it’s probably because Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler, is in theaters. A blue version of the musician’s famous white rhinestone jumpsuit sold for $250,000 in 2017.
